The Sun Fire Workgroup Server Maintenance and Administration course covers installation, configuration, and maintenance issues on workgroup and mid-range servers within the Sun Blade and Sun Fire architectural line. · Identify architectural features of the Sun Blade 1000, Sun Blade 2000, Sun Fire 280R, Sun Fire V880, and Sun Fire V480 servers

· Differentiate between cold-swap and hot-plug components and procedures to prepare for removal/replacement of field-replaceable unit (FRU) for each system.

To succeed fully in this course, students should be able to:

· Maintain Sun hardware with UNIX commands
· Install and configure a Solaris Operating System (Solaris OS) workstation/server
· Identify, install, and manage remote access software
· Have working knowledge of hardware components and architecture of PCI-based servers
· Use Sun diagnostics utilities to perform troubleshooting

Module 9 Solaris OS Support Utilities
· Determine the minimum installation requirements for the Sun Blade 1000 and 2000 workstations, and Sun Fire 280R server

· Manage environmental control software
· Gather system FRU information
