Overview
The Sun Java System Application Server Platform Edition 8: Configuration and Deployment course provides students with the skills necessary to install, maintain, tune, and troubleshoot the Sun Java System Application Server Platform Edition 8 (Application Server) (formerly Sun Open Net Environment [Sun ONE] Application Server 7) in a development environment. The ability to write programs in the Java programming language is not required. However, Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE[TM] platform) technology-based applications are deployed throughout the course to demonstrate various concepts. Students are introduced to the tools that are used to administer and deploy applications to the Application Server. This course also includes the following topics: server architecture, data persistence and transactions, application assembly procedures, sample applications bundled with the Application Server software, the Java Message Service (J.M.S.) and message-driven beans, Java Remote Method Invocation over Internet Inter-ORB Protocol technology (Java RMI-IIOP technology) clients, an introduction to web services development, and application migration.
