Salient Features
Department of Textile Technology was started in the year 1998 with strong motive to give Technical education and train the young buds with latest Techniques. It is really proud to say we are the only college offering Textile Technology 4 year degree course in Trichy zone.
The primary objective of the department is to provide facilities and offer opportunities for higher education in Technology by instruction, training, research development and extension activities. The department also serves as a centre for exchange of ideas between the academic community and the industries.

The Textile Technology department is located at centre of the college. It having vast green land and free air around, which is reminds and reflects the teaching of Mahatma Gandhi who insisted on the educational system "Learning under Nature"

The class rooms of the department having enough lighting and ventilation to enable the student to learn with energetic.
TEXTILE LABORATORIES

The laboratories of the Department of Textile Technology are equipped with latest machinery and equipment.

Spun Yarn Technology Laboratory
This laboratory provides practical knowledge regarding the yarn preparing technology in short staple (cotton) The laboratory facilities includes Mixing Bale opener, Carding, Draw frame, Sliver lap M/c, Ribbon lap M/c, Comber, Speed Frame and Ring Frame M/c.

Fabric Manufacture Laboratory
This laboratory has the facility to weave cotton, synthetic and jute fabric including tappet, dobby and jacquard loom, hand operated loom, ordinary power loom, automatic power loom .
Textile Chemical Processing Laboratory

This laboratory includes machinery of Pilot Padding Mangle, HTHP Beaker dyeing M/c, Steamer, Laundrometer, and Perspirometer. Students are able to achieve detail idea about total wet processing technology from this laboratory. This laboratory has the facility of dyeing material as fibre and yarn and various style of printing. Also this laboratory has rubbing fastness and washing fastness equipment
Knitting and Garment Laboratory
This laboratory is equipped with both warp and weft knitting machinery. Warp knitting machinery includes both raschel and tricot machine and weft knitting machine include circular (single jersey, interlock, rib, jacquard) and flat knitting machine. Garments laboratory is equipped with modern sewing machinery used in garments industry.


Textile Quality Evaluation Laboratory
Testing laboratory has the testing facility to test fibre, yarn and fabric. Almost all sorts to textile test can be performed here. This laboratory has conventional and modern testing machine including Bear sorter, Stelometer, Fibre fineness tester, Conditioning Oven, Yarn appearance, Lea strength Tester, Single Yarn tester, Crock meter, Drape meter, Stiffness tester, Abrasion Tester, Crimp Tester, Crease Recovery Tester, BeesleyBalance, GSM Cutter, Fabric Thickness tester and Counting Glass
