D.Phil. in Education

The teacher education department was established at Srinagar(Garhwal) in 1972 by the Govt. of Uttar Pradesh. Initially the dept. started with B.Ed. course having an intake of 140 trainees. In 1973-74, M.Ed. classes started with sanction of 25 seats by the Govt. In 1979, the deptt. merged with Garhwal University. Ever since, it is running as the deptt. of education of the University with teaching for B.Ed. and M.Ed. course. Besides, research is another vital activity of the department.

Other Information:
Establishment of Institute of advanced studies in education was sanctioned by the Min.of Human Resource Development under Centrally sponsored scheme to promote teacher education. A grant of Rs.20 lakh is provided for the purchase of instruments.
