The Tamilnadu Physical Education and Sports University is a unique and first of its kind in India as an affiliating university, established in the year 2005. The university has five departments which offer innovative courses in the areas of Physical Education, Yoga, Exercise physiology & Biomechanics, Sports Management, Sports Psychology and Sociology, Advanced Sports Training and Sports Technology at post graduate and research levels.

Modern competitive sports require highly scientific and technical support systems that enable an individual athlete to achieve peak performance consistently. I am sure the advancement that takes place in the above said disciplines is quite useful to spot out and nurture the talents among the youth and enable them to be greater sportsmen. Inter disciplinary approach between physical education and sports sciences would augment the development of sports in India on par with western countries.
