INTEGRATED POST GRADUATE PROGRAMME: BE (IE)–MBA

INTRODUCTION:

Industrial Engineering has traditionally been employed in manufacturing sector to help better manage resources and the conventional factors of production. However, in the past two decades Industrial Engineers have moved in large numbers into technology and service sectors such as health care, financial and food industry, hotels and recreation industries and transportation industries and into IT and Technology management. The techniques and tools used by Industrial Engineers have also evolved greatly over the years.

Specifically high speed and distributed computing has put many tools and methods at the disposal of the IEs. Today they include computer simulation, artificial intelligence, decision support systems, knowledge bases, computer Integrated manufacturing and numerous powerful optimization techniques that solve large, multivariable decision problems.This course focuses on conceptualizing and effectively integrating systems that consist of people, equipment and information into one smooth operation to serve its stakeholders. The objectives of the course are:

ü To develop an understanding of the fundamentals of design, operation and evaluation of various Industrial and Organizational systems within the framework of management sciences.

ü To train students in the methodologies and systematic approaches available to the industrial engineering profession for dealing with problems and challenges faced by all kinds of organizations.

ü To train the students in the design of technological, man machine and operating systems. These include state-of-the-art manufacturing setups and supply chains, service units computer application software, data and knowledge bases and web based internet applications.

The future requirement of integration of technological and managerial skills to bring innovation in product, technology and market, led the academicians of India to envision the need for an integrated course based on management and IT. This programme offers dual academic certifications (graduate and post graduate) after the completion of 235 to 240 credits in 10 semesters.
