Physiology: The effect of drugs on living organisms and human physiology.
Medical Chemistry: Introduction of medicinal chemistry, properties of drug molecules, science of drug discovery, design and optimization, chemistry of living systems.
Chemical Biology: Combinational chemistry, screening technologies targeting nucleic acids and proteins; ion channels; gene expression and development; drug receptor interactions.
Herbal Drug Development and Standardization: Phytochemistry: sources, sources, identification, authentification, processing, standardization of raw materials, extraction systems : principles, methods and purification; Standardization of extracts: Physical, chemical and biological characterization, pharmacological and toxicological standardization; Pilot scale production : quality control and qualitative/quantitative evaluation.
Drug Delivery Systems: Controlled delivery of drugs to their target sites, various modified release systems, methods for achieving site directed delivery, adsorption of drugs, design delivery systems for specific diseases.
Drug Metabolism and Phamaceutical Analysis: Metabolism of drugs, ADME, QSAR evaluation of structure in relation to effect.
Applied Phamacology and Therapeutics: Causes (aetiology) and consequences of disease processes, use of drugs in the treatment of these conditions, the mechanisms of action of the drugs and the pharmacological basis of the use of drugs in disease.
Laboratory: Isolation of Bioactive compounds from plant/microbial extracts, Sterility testing of pharmaceutical products – IV injections, saline, vitamins, Quantification of active ingredients in drug formations using chromatographic techniques, In-silico software used in pharmacological analysis
