The Population Research Centre (PRC) was established in the Panjab
University, Chandigarh in the spring of 1980. It was the first PRC to be
established in the North-Western region of India. The PRC is sponsored
and fully funded by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW),
Government of India, New Delhi. The administrative control of the centre
is with the Panjab University, Chandigarh.
The PRC mainly undertakes research sponsored by the MOHFW, GOI and Health Department of Haryana state. Apart from this it is also involved in collaborative research Projects with other National and International agencies, as well as its own initiated research work and independent work by the staff.
