Course programme

The aim of the undergraduate programme in Mechanical Engineering is to prepare students for research and professional practice in an era of rapidly advancing interdisciplinary technology. The programme builds on the core curriculum to combine individual depth of experience and competence in a particularly chosen mechanical engineering specialty, with a strong background in the basic and engineering sciences. It maintains a balance between classroom lectures and laboratory and design experience, and emphasizes the problem-formulation and solving skills that are essential to any engineering discipline. The programme also strives to develop in each student, self-reliance, creativity, leadership, professional ethics, and the capacity for continuing professional and intellectual growth. State-of-the-art facilities are provided for the students in the form of Labs and Books. The department is equipped with Computing Laboratories having high performance systems, a departmental library and well equipped laboratories.
