The course of Education was established on 7th September, 1978 as Department of Educational Research, under NEHU, Nagaland Campus. Later it was re-named as Department of Education which came under Nagaland University on 6th September, 1994.
The Department offers Master of Arts degree course in Education. Duration of the MA programme consists of four semesters in 2 years covering sixteen course papers with a number of optional selective papers. In addition to the Masters Degree programme, Department offers Doctoral Research Study in Education. Presently there are 25 Ph.D scholars working in the Department.
The Department is under the School of Humanities and Education. This Department looks after Under Graduate studies in Educatio, B.Ed., and M.Ed. studies under Nagaland University.
