P.hd in Engineering Mathemetics:Mathematical modelling
The department of Mathematics was started in 1946 at the inception of the college. The department received the able guidance of former professors namely Prof. S. K. Lakshmana Rao, Prof. Y. G. Krishna Swamy, Prof. N. Venkoba Rao, Prof. T. K. Puttaswamy, Dr. R. Parthasarathy, Prof. M. J. Narayana Iyengar, Dr. S. Subba Rao and Dr. H. Narasimha Murthy during the last sixty two years. The department teaches Engineering Mathematics curriculum for students of all Engineering disciplines and is also supporting to the teaching needs of MBA, MCA and M. Tech programs as and when the need arises. All the faculty of the department are provided with the computational facilities under the TEQIP. The faculty of the department are engaged in research work in the areas of theoretical fluid mechanics, Number Theory and Integral Transforms.
The department is one of the research centres recognised by the Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum, for guiding students for Ph. D. degree. At present four students are working for Ph.D. degree in the department.
