Course programme


ASIC term means Application Specific Integrated Circuit. This is an incorporated circuit (IC) adapted for a specific purpose, rather than projected for general purpose usage. Normally, ASIC designing will be taken on for a product having a large production run, & ASIC can include a very large portion of the electronic required for a single integrated circuit. As the featuring size is shrunk & designing tools enhanced over the years, the difficulty in an ASIC is growing over 100 million gates. In the process of ASIC Designing & Verification, Verification takes 50% - 70% of effort of designing cycle & is on the difficult path in the designing flow of multi-million gate ASICs. Therefore verification will become the central bottle-neck in the designing project. The functional verification bottle-neck is the impact of increasing the designing abstraction levels. Most of ASICs needs at least one re spin & with 71% of re spins are because of the functional bugs. As ASIC Verification is time taking, adaptation of appropriate verification methods in ASIC Designing flow is very important. An ASIC Verification mothod will provide the building block required to develop quickly well-constructed & re-usable verification component & testing environment. FPGA Emulation is other mode of checking the crucial ASICs, & it provides to capturing real time bugs.
